What time is the reception open?

Reception hours are: 8:00am – 1:00pm & 2:00pm – 8:00pm.

What time is check-in and check-out?

You can check into your room at the hostel at 2pm but feel free to come by earlier if need be. Your room won’t be ready but you can still make yourself at home around the hostel. Check-out is at 10am.

Can I check in after 8.00pm?

Can people under the age of 18 stay at Oaklands Lodge?

Yes we do allow guests to check-in after the office closes. If you are checking in after 8.00pm you will need the code to enter the front door. When entering the door you will see a notice board which will have a letter with your name on it. Inside the letter you will find your room keys and directions to your room.

Unfortunately you must be 18 to stay our hostel or at least 16 if accompanied by an adult and staying in a private room. Our accommodation is not suitable for children, especially babies. We reserve the right to refuse accommodation under these circumstances.

What is the difference between Economy & Standard rooms?

Economy rooms are located on the ground floor and close to communal areas, so it can be a little noisier during busy times.
Standard rooms are on the 1st floor and are away from the communal areas.

Can I store my bags?

Can I drink the tap water?

Storage is free for small items of luggage (a normal sized back pack for example)  for short periods of time at our discretion.

Yes, the water is perfectly safe to drink out of the tap.

Is there bike parking available?

Yes there is bike parking available, however, we do recommend you use a lock.

Do you accept group bookings?

No, we don’t accept groups larger than 6 people.

How can I pay?

Do you have car parking?

Payment is taken on arrival however we do require your credit card details to secure the booking.

There is free on-street car parking. There is free on-street parking in the local area, it can get quite busy outside the hostel but there is usually parking within 500 metres.

Do you charge a credit card and foreign debit card surcharge?

Yes, we do have a 3% surcharge for payments made with a credit card or foreign debit card. There is no surcharge for NZ debit card or cash transactions.

What is your cancellation policy?

We have a 48 hour cancellation policy, please contact us directly before 2pm two days before you are due to arrive if you need to cancel your booking.
